Bhaina in India

What are some wedding traditions in your culture? For the Bhaina people of India, washing feet and applying vermilion(a red pigment) to the bride's hair are common customs. The Bhaina reside in the fertile plains of the Raigarh and Bilaspur Districts of the state of Chhattisgarh and work as farmers and laborers.

Ministry Obstacles: There is a lack of workers among the Bhaina people which hinders the spread of the gospel.

Outreach Ideas: The New Testament is available in the Bhaina's native language, Chhattisgarhi, and it is available in both print and audio recordings. Many Bhaina people cannot read, so they also need more audio recordings. There are believers from southern India who can reach out to them.

Scripture Focus: "Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth! Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious He is." Psalm 66:1-2

Scripture Prayer: May there be many from this people group doing just this very soon!

Prayer Focus: Pray that the few Bhaina who identify with Christ would be able to share Christ with their families and neighbors. The illiteracy rate among the Bhaina is extremely high. Pray that they would have access to more education and that the parents would place higher value on education and economic advancement. Pray for a vibrant movement to Christ among the Bhaina people that will bring joy, peace and wholeness to their community.
