Magar of Nepal
The Magar of Nepal may be of Tibetan descent because their language and dances are similar to those within the Tibetan culture. Some Magar live on the plains where the Himalayan hills begin; others occupy the lower hills of the Mahabharat Lekh; a few inhabit the high altitude mountain areas. They are very jovial and love to sing and dance.
Problems to overcome include geographical barriers, opposition from Maoists, opposing spiritual forces, and militant religions.
Approaches to access include visiting evangelists and teams to share the Gospel message via stories and films, as well as with printed literature and Scripture.
Pray for the believers among the Magar, that the Lord will give them the Spirit of revelation that they may know him better, and that the eyes of their hearts may be enlightened to know the hope to which they have been called. Pray the pastors will lead holy lives, serving their flocks with wisdom and diligence.
Pray for multiplying disciples throughout the Magar community, that each individual may soon hear the way of salvation, in their mother tongue and presented in such a way that they will understand it and accept it. Pray for educational opportunities for the youth, and employment opportunities.
"Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name." 1 Chronicles 16:28-29
