pronounced: MEM-un
There are about one half million Memon people, many in southern India, the state of Gujarat and the city of Mumbai. Known for their success in business and notable for their charitable works, they are highly regarded among the people of India. Centuries before independence the Memons practiced charity and social involvement. Wherever they migrate, they establish social and welfare committees. Any member of their group can ask for help, making sure that they don't face dire poverty like many of the other Islamic groups of South Asia.
It is very difficult for people with such skills and accomplishments as the Memons to accept that they need to approach the Lord like a small child. They also don't socialize with other communities, even other Muslims.
It will take believers with excellent business accomplishments to reach Memons on a social level. This would be an excellent choice for a prayer group to intercede for on a regular basis.
"Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”" John 3:3
Pray that many in this people group are born again and enter into the Kingdom of God.
This is one of the very least reached people groups in the world, and it is unlikely that there are any Memon believers in India. Pray for the Lord to speak to their hearts. * Pray for his kingdom to come and his will to be done among the Memon people. * Pray for a spiritual hunger that will drive the Memon people to the arms of Jesus. * Pray for workers, who are filled with the fruit and the power of the Holy Spirit to go to the Memon community.
