The Qazi community derives their name from the term qadi which means "judge." They have a tradition of being the religious leaders or imams among Muslim people groups. The Qazi are skilled in art of Islamic religious rites and tend to perform the traditional ceremonies for the greater Muslim community. They perform the birth, purification, marriage, death and burial rites. The Qazi are 100 percent Sunni Muslims. In India they are concentrated in the eastern state of Bihar.
It is very hard for people who have been given high status by a religious community to put their faith in a Savior. That indicates that they have spiritual needs that are unmet.
It will take someone with excellent people skills and theological training to make contact with the Qazi community. They will have to find those who are spiritually hungry enough to hear the stories of Jesus and respond to them by telling others.
"Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures." Luke 24:45
Pray that the minds of this people group will be opened to understand God’s word by the Spirit Himself.
There are no followers of Christ among this influential Muslim community. If any of them turn their hearts to the Lord, they can be used of Him to lead thousands of Muslims to Him as well if they do it in a sensitive manner. Pray to this end. * Pray for a "Book of Acts" type of movement to Christ among the Qazi community. * Pray for Holy Spirit anointed believers from the Qazi people to change their society from within. * Pray for a movement in which the Holy Spirit leads and empowers Qazi disciples to make more disciples.
