Kumhar (Muslim traditions) in Pakistan

pronounced: koom-HAR

Though they are traditionally potters, many Kumhars in Pakistan are now land owners. They have two different communities; one group is made up of local Pakistani Kumhars and the other migrated from India.

Ministry Obstacles

Pakistan is a very closed country, and those with power make sure that everyone remains Sunni Muslim.

Outreach Ideas

It will take some creativity to reach the Kumhar people in Pakistan. Perhaps outsiders can have contact with them by purchasing their pots and produce. Kumhars who have internet access can get the JESUS film and the Bible in many languages of Pakistan.

Scripture Focus

"This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people."  Jeremiah 31:33

Scripture Prayer

Pray for today’s people group to become the Lord’s people!

Prayer Focus

There are no known followers of Christ among the Kumhar people, so pray for the Lord to make a way for them to have their first church planting movement. * Pray that God will give the Kumhar dreams and visions leading them to salvation and abundant life. * Pray that gospel materials on the internet will lead them to Jesus Christ. * Pray for entire Kumhar families to have the chance to hear and respond to the person, Jesus Christ.
