Comorians in France

Comoro is made up of four major islands and small islets located off of the eastern coast of Africa. Only the island of Mayotte remains in French control; the others received independence from France in 1975. Thousands of suffering Comorians have risked their lives (an estimated 10,000 have died) by crossing the Mozambique Channel in boats to reach Mayotte, where there is less poverty. Some who reach Mayotte have migrated to France, but those who reach France live in poverty. France is a very secular environment, and that mindset could be affecting Comorians. Comorians in France are either Muslim or forsaking religion altogether.

Ministry Obstacles

The French dislike for the Comorians has caused them not to trust the French, whom they associated with Christianity.

Outreach Ideas

Muslim Comorians in France and beyond need to see caring followers of Christ who will show them the love and respect that come from knowing the biblical God and the grace of Jesus. A valuable way to do this is through faithful volunteers who can assist Comorians in areas of medicine, education and job training.

Scripture Focus

"Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways."  Haggai 1:7

Scripture Prayer

Pray that this people group consider their ways and turn to the Lord.

Prayer Focus

Pray the Comorians would be freed from their physical and spiritual hardships and receive the guidance and enduring love found in Christ, the Lord of lords. Pray for a movement to Christ among the Comorians in France this decade.
