pronounced: Terr-khaan
Traditionally they were given the status of low-caste artisans such as carpenters. Eventually they made their mark on Pakistani society as soldiers. Some Tarkhans have managed to rise to the top in all they do, whether they are landowning farmers, scientists, engineers or doctors. They are involved in all kinds of trades in Pakistan. They speak Punjabi, the language of Punjab Province.
There are almost no opportunities to take Christ to the unreached peoples of Pakistan. This is a closed country where only Sunni Muslims are accepted.
Believers who want to be a blessing to the Tarkhan people of Pakistan would need to find a physical need and fill it. Perhaps there is a need for a medical clinic or a clean water project.
The time is surely coming, says the Sovereign Lord, when I will send a famine on the land— not a famine of bread or water but of hearing the words of the Lord. Amos 8:11
Pray that the Bible becomes available to this people group. Pray that they listen to and obey the words of the Lord.
There are no followers of Christ among the Muslim Tarkhan people of Pakistan, so pray for this to soon change. * Pray for rising literacy rates within the Tarkhan community, and for the necessary skills to make them more employable in the modern world. * Pray for the Tarkhan people to be given the blessings of spiritual hunger and discernment that will lead them to seek and find Jesus Christ. * Pray for the Lord to thrust out loving workers to go to them and remain until there are believers who can disciple their entire people group.
