pronounced: MOH-hun-uh SIN-dee
The Sindhi Mohana people live mainly in Pakistan's Sindh Province, though many also live in Punjab, Pakistan's largest province. A smaller number are in Baloch Province. If you wanted to find this people group, a good place to look would be the shores of Lake Manchar, a manmade lake created in the 1930s and fed with fresh water by two canals. Another good place to find them is in the city of Karachi where they often work on fishing trawlers. Though many are still fishermen, others are boatmen or sailors. Like other ethnic groups in Sindh Province, the Mohanas speak Sindhi.
The Mohanas live in a country that is closed to the gospel. Only Sunni Muslims have good status; members of other sects of Islam are often violently persecuted. They have no choice but to remain Muslim since the "gatekeepers" prevent outsiders from sharing other spiritual beliefs. The great missionary statesman, William Carey, referred to such groups as "no choice" peoples.
Believers need to have regular prayer times where they intercede for this group that does not have the chance to choose Jesus Christ and life to the full.
Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28
Pray that this people group receives the gift of the Holy Spirit as they turn to the Lord.
There are no known followers of Christ among the Sindhi Mohana people. There needs to be consistent prayer until this changes. * Pray for a spiritual hunger among the Sindhi Mohana people that will drive them to seek and find Jesus Christ. * Pray for the Lord to make a way for them to hear the gospel, respond to it, and be discipled so they can disciple others. * Pray for Mohana family elders to be favorable to the influence that Jesus Christ can have on their people.
