pronounced: RAHJ-put bess
The Bais Rajputs live in many regions of India including the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The meaning of the name Bais is "one who occupies the soil." Rajput means "son of a ruler or king." The Bais Rajputs generally do not do cultivation but have lower castes farm their land. Most Bais Rajputs enjoy high places in Indian society. Bais Rajputs encourage their sons and daughters to obtain graduate degrees and enter careers like medicine, public administration, computer science, finance, and engineering.
The Bais Rajputs are proud of their royal and military heritage. Pride may prevent them from seeing themselves as lost sinners in need of a Savior.
Hindu background believers can tell them Bais about the blessings of knowing the true God and having one's sins forgiven. Bais Rajput college students who are studying in the west can hear the claims of Christ and respond without pressure from their families.
There are no known believers among the Bais Rajputs. Pray that Hindu background believers tell the Bais about the love and mercy of God found in Jesus Christ.
* Pray that the Bais will get access to gospel materials in Hindi and that this will lead them to living the abundant life God has for them. * Pray that God will overthrow spiritual forces of darkness opposing the spread of his gospel among the Bais Rajputs. * Pray that pride will not get in the way of the Bais receiving Jesus Christ.
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9
