Go to the Caucasus mountains where Georgia, Russia (Dagestan) and Azerbaijan come together. Then you are in the vicinity of the Ginukh people. They live mainly in one large village speaking their own language. When the Ginukh need to communicate with their neighbors they speak in Russian. A form of terraced agriculture provides their main source of income. But because of a shortage of tillable land and the abundance of good alpine pastures, many Ginukh raise sheep, goats and cattle.
Like other Muslim people groups in the Caucasus Mountains, the Ginukh are suspicious of outsiders. Before you can even think of getting to their homeland, you would have to get past the Russian authorities. They also do not want anyone to enter the Ginukh area. That is one of the few points of agreement between the Ginukh people and the Russians.
It will take much prayer until there is a spiritual breakthrough among these Muslims. But it can happen with God's miraculous intervention.
"So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12
Pray that this knowledge will lead many from today’s people group to seek the Savior.
Pray for a team of faithful intercessors to pray the Ginukh people into the Kingdom of God. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in their community, giving dreams and visions that will point the way to the only Savior. Pray for Ginukh leaders to allow entry for Christ's ambassadors.
