The Komti Bania are a people who live in south India. India's rapidly growing economy leans heavily on Bania communities like the Komti. For centuries, the Komti Banias have enjoyed a monopoly in trade and business, thanks to their caste. They are one of the many money lending Bania subgroups. There are also many shopkeepers and sellers of goods among them. The Komti are hardworking business caste who generally live as middle class and upper middle class people in south India. Their primary language is Telugu.
The Komti Bania are known as devout Hindus. When a Komti becomes a believer, he or she may lose business and be shunned by the community unless their leaders have approved the gospel message.
Films, Bibles and literature are available in Telugu. Many Indian believers live in the region inhabited by the Komti.
Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. Ps 90:12
Pray that this knowledge will lead many from today’s people group to seek the Savior.
Only a tiny number of Komti have become believers in Christ. Pray that they would be trained to share the good news with their brothers and sisters. * Ask God to deliver families and communities within the Komti people from fears that hinder them from embracing his blessings. * Pray that the rapid technological changes that have come to India will give the Komti Banias a chance to hear about Christ. * Pray that they will not see biblical Christianity as a western religion, but as a relationship with the living Jesus.
