Brahmin Sanadhya in India

The Sanadhya Brahmins are a community of Hindu priests and scholars who live in north and central India. They are the highest caste or Varna in Hinduism and teachers and keepers of its sacred learning. The word Brahmin comes from the Sanskrit word for "One who knows God". The large majority of Sanadhya Brahmins speak Hindi as their first language. Many migrated south to central India due to Muslim persecution. Historically, some Sanadhya Brahmins were hermits of the forest or they served as heads of ashrams, religious retreat centers.

Ministry Obstacles

The Sanadhya are proud of their heritage and high position in Hinduism. Pride can be an obstacle in coming to the God of the Bible and His Son, Jesus.

Outreach Ideas

Sanadhya students studying in the West will be more open to the claims of Christ than if they were living in their homeland. Literature and films are readily available in Hindi.

Pray for the followers of Christ

There are no known believers among the Sanadhya at the present time. Ask God to send Hindu background believers to give the good news to the Sanadhya.

Pray for the entire people group

* Pray the Holy Spirit opens the spiritual eyes of the Sanadhya Brahmins to see the true Light of the world, Jesus Christ. * Pray that Indian believers would reach out and begin redemptive relationships with the Sanadhya Brahmins. * Pray for a movement of Sanadhya households to study the Bible and accept the blessings of Christ.

Scripture Focus

"This gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14
