Khatri (Hindu traditions) in India

pronounced: KAH-tree

Khatri people came from Punjab, a region that straddles eastern Pakistan and northwestern India. Most Khatris speak Hindi and some can speak English. Many Bible resources are published in Hindi and English, but not necessarily available to people groups in remote parts of northern India. Khatri are mainly Hindu, worshiping all Hindu gods and ancestors.

Ministry Obstacles

Katri people need to be liberated from traditions that hinder receiving the Savior who died in their place, and to receive new believers into their traditional community.

Outreach Ideas

Audio, visual and written Christian resources have been produced in Hindi and English; someone must earn the trust of these people to introduce them to this help.

Scripture Focus

When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm. Ps 75:3

Scripture Prayer

Pray that many from today’s people group will allow Him to be their firm foundation in times of trouble.

Prayer Focus

Pray for the Holy Spirit to give leaders of this people group true repentance that will spread far and wide, and ultimately bring joy and blessing to others. * Pray for a "Book of Acts" type of movement to Christ among the Khatri people. * Pray for workers who are filled with the fruit and the power of the Holy Spirit to go to the Khatri people.
