Raigar in India

Raigar in India

pronounced: ray-GUHR

The Raigar people of India live near the India-Pakistani borderlands on the Indian side. Their name means "leather tanner," and because of their work with animals and skins, they were considered "untouchable" for centuries. Now many have shoe shops and fashion leather into shoes. A few have even gained an education, so they can get jobs that pay better.

Ministry Obstacles

Most of the Raigar people live in Rajasthan, a state in northern India where only one in 1,000 professes Christ. They probably don't have any believers within hundreds of miles.

Outreach Ideas

People who are stripped of their dignity and worth are more likely to look to a God who gives them dignity. Believers can preach about how our dignity comes by serving the God who gives us life.

Prayer Items

There are no believers that we know of among the Raigar people, so pray that the Holy Spirit will woo many into the Kingdom that has no end. Pray that the first fruits among them will joyfully disciple others until there is a massive movement to Christ among the Raigar people. * Pray that the Holy Spirit woos, convicts, teaches, and draws this community of lost souls into the arms of the Lord, who loves them as lost sheep and longs to accept them into His fold. * Pray for families of believers loving and serving others to grow reproducing churches among the Raigar people. * Pray for a chain reaction of Raigar families reaching families that results in thousands of new believers who share their faith with others.
