The Saini community can be subdivided into a Hindu people group, a Sikh people group, and a Muslim group. The traditional Hindu deities are worshipped by the Hindu Saini. The Saini are engaged in a number of trades, including farming and business enterprises. Traditionally, they do not accept or exchange water and food with the Chura, Chamar, Deha, Dom, Dhobi, Nai and Muslim communities, believing them to be of lower status than themselves. During the marriage ceremony, an important ritual of circling the sacred fire seven times is performed. Sacred specialists from other people groups perform worship, impart religious teachings and conduct birth, marriage and death rites.
The Hindu Saini people group speaks 16 languages in India, and live in 11 states of India. Several evangelistic and church planting projects will probably be needed to reach this group with the Gospel message.
Perhaps the Lord will send Christians from neighboring people groups to the Saini people. Pray the Lord will give this desire to some indigenous workers.
But each day the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life. Ps 42:8
Pray for many from this people group to find the Lord’s unfailing love and respond with praise and worship.
There are no known Christians among the Hindu Saini people, but there may be some secret believers. Please pray for the many followers of Christ who will one day be found in this community, that they will be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Please pray the Saini people will find no satisfaction from a religion which does not lead to eternal life, but instead leads to worship of beings which lead to death.
