"Grandfather, heal my son's sickness. Protect others in our family from this illness." This could be a prayer of a Phula man since they venerate the spirits of their ancestors and practice folk religion. The Phula are an indigenous people who live in the forests and mountains of Vietnam's Lao Cai Province near the Chinese border. Phula women are known for their weaving skills and dyeing the fabric in indigo. They grow rice, raise animals, and fish for a living.
No Bible books or recordings are currently available in the Phula language. The Vietnamese government will not permit foreign missionaries to visit the Phula and tell them about Jesus. As far as we know, there are only a few believers among the Phula people.
Christians from other Vietnamese tribal groups can go to the Phula and share the good news with them.
"Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD. How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings." Psalm 36:5-7
Pray for this people group to understand the vastness of the Lord’s faithfulness and righteousness. May they be drawn to Him.
Pray that the hearts of the Phula would be open when they hear the message of Jesus Christ. Pray that the Lord would send believers to the Phula to build friendships and engage them with biblical truth. Pray God would provide resources to bring gospel recordings and audio books of the Bible in the Phula language. Pray for a powerful Disciple Making Movement among the Phula people.
