The Japanese are one of the most homogenous people groups in the world. For this reason, it is difficult for Japanese people who live outside of their country in places like South Korea. From 1910-1945, Japan held Korea as it's colony, and there are still many Koreans who hold this against the Japanese. Most Japanese in South Korea are working in the realm of business. With South Korean businesses emerging, this is one more area where there is potential hostility and rivalry between Koreans and Japanese.
Many Japanese are indifferent and skeptical of established religion. On the outside, they seem to have few needs. However, many of them have become obsessed with materialistic pleasures, careers and possessions.
South Korea has a strong, mission-minded church. Korean believers can go to the Japanese with the life-changing gospel. They will need to present the gospel using forms that the Japanese can understand.
"O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens." Psalm 8:1
Help this people group to know from the heart and the head that the Lord is great!
Pray that South Korea believers will reach out as Christ's ambassadors to the Japanese among them. Ask the Lord to raise up strong a church planting movement among the Japanese in South Korea. Pray that Christian businessmen will have open doors to share the gospel with the Japanese in South Korea. Japanese housewives commonly stay at home feeling bored and lonely. Pray that Christian radio and television broadcasts will be effective in reaching these women.
