The Devanga are known mainly for two crafts: weaving and fine crafts. The entire family participates. Men weave using looms, women spin yarn and thread, and the children also help in the process.
The religion of the Devanga is Hinduism, so they focus on many gods and goddesses, but they primarily worship the goddess Banashankari. Should they decide to follow Christ, they would become social outcasts. Those who reach out to them would be wise to invite entire families to follow Christ rather than individuals.
The Devanga People are very creative in their weaving. Perhaps their creative energies could serve as a pathway to bringing them into the kingdom of God. Questions like "Who gave mankind creativity?" would be appropriate.
"All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies." Psalm 25:10
Thank the Lord that He leads with love and faithfulness! Pray that many from today’s people group will discover that and act upon it.
Pray that Devanga believers would put Christ first and take seriously his great commission. Pray that God would lead them to seekers whose hearts are sensitive. Lift up the entire Devanga group and ask that they would accept Jesus together as a community.
