The Kunbi Lewa people work in agriculture. Those who do not own land work as laborers. They prefer marriages between cousins, but they allow for divorce if the marriage turns out to be unsuitable. Divorcees and the bereaved can marry again. Most of them live in the western states of Gujarat and Maharashtra, though a fewer number are scattered in Rajasthan and Karnataka.
They are Hindus who worship their ancestors. There is much community pressure to remain in the ways of those who went before them.
Since most of them speak Gujarati, believers can offer them materials in that language, and encourage them to listen to Gujarati radio broadcasts.
There are so few Kunbi Lewa believers that they have little chance of making an impact on this community. Pray that the few will have the spiritual strength to pray and reach out to their families and neighbors in such a way that others will embrace Jesus. *Pray that the Lord will bring economic and spiritual prosperity to the Kunbi Lewa people, and that they will respond with thankfulness to Him. * Pray that the leaders of the Kunbi Lewa Association come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him. Pray for their families to be drawn by the Holy Spirit to seek forgiveness and to understand the adequacy of Christ's work on the cross.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedlingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
