pronounced: BURR-burr
The Shawiya (pronounced Shah-wee-ya) is one of the numerous Berber groups in North Africa. The major feature that binds the Shawiya together is their language. Since the 8th century, they have been dominated by the Arabs, who forbade expressions of their language and culture until recent years. Life for the Shawiya is simple. They have long been mocked by their countrymen for being simpletons, yet are known for their wisdom.
To follow Christ in the Shawiya community carries the risk of loss of relationships, not to mention physical danger.
Sustained and focused prayer is needed to help these people begin to hunger to know Jesus.
Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to Him, both now and forever! Amen. 2 Pet 3:18
Pray that the believers in this people group grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Pray for the followers of Christ that will soon come from the Shawiya community. Pray they will be able to fellowship together, and become firmly established on the truth of Scripture. Pray the Shawiya people will become truly wise by finding the One who is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge.
