Arabs have been in Spain for over 1,300 years. Since their arrival was from the south and their spread north was mostly prevented, Arabs are found in the southern regions of the country. Since there is much diversity found among Arabs regarding their physical, geographical, and religious makeup, it is the ability to speak a version of Arabic and identification with Arabian cultural heritage that unifies them. The farther Arab peoples travel from their traditional homelands, the more they tend to adapt to their receptor culture, to varying degrees. Arab communities are found in most "western" countries. There is greater freedom for women to leave the home, fewer arranged marriages, and less social pressure to conform to traditional religious practices. Most Arabs are Muslim, regardless of their current home country.
Ties to their home culture, isolationism and to Muslim orthodoxy can contribute to an unwillingness for Arabs to open up to Christian influence.
Resources in the various Arabic dialects are available; however, a greater effort must be made to use these resources among Arabic communities.
"They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful." Revelation 17:14
Pray that this people group understands the fact that the Lamb’s victory over evil is assured. Pray that many in this people group will choose to be the faithful ones of the Lamb of God.
"Arab" does not mean "Muslim" and there are Christian Arabs around the world. Pray for a vision among these people of God to reach their family, friends and neighbors who share Arabic cultural roots. Pray that the softening of their traditional culture will create open doors for the Gospel to be preached among them.
