Berber, Kabyle in France

The Kabyle name derives from the name of the mountainous region in the north of Algeria, which they traditionally inhabit. The traditional economy of the area is based on orchards and olive trees, and tapestry or pottery. The area was gradually taken over by the French from 1857, despite vigorous local resistance. The armed Algerian revolutionary resistance to French colonialism, the National Liberation Front (FLN) recruited several of its historical leaders in this region.

Ministry Obstacles

The Kabyle may experience some racial discrimination which may prevent some from naturally ministering among them.

Outreach Ideas

There are believers among the Kabyle in France, including a strong fellowship in Paris. Cooperation in ministry with this existing Church may be key.

Pray for the followers of Christ

Pray for laborers to sow God's Word to persons and households of peace, which will in turn catalyze movements to Christ among the Kabyle Berbers. Pray for the followers of Jesus among them, that they will be faithful to fellowship together, and will grow in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Pray they will live a life worthy of their calling in Christ.

Pray for the entire people group

Pray the Kabyle community will have an increasing desire for the One who is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life." Pray the Spirit of Christ will satisfy this desire.

Scripture Focus

"God has granted to the Gentiles [nations] also the repentance that leads to life." Acts 11:18
