Some Moroccan Arabs have migrated to other parts of the world such as Egypt in search of jobs. Moroccan Arabs share an Arab heritage with the majority people of Egypt, but the two cultures are on different ends of North Africa; Morocco and Egypt are 2,200 miles apart. Moroccan Arabic is different from Egyptian Arabic, which is the standard form of Arabic. Yet most Moroccans are familiar with Egyptian Arabic since that is what they hear on TV and radio. The JESUS Film is in both forms of Arabic.
Virtually all of the Moroccan Arabs in Egypt are Sunni Muslim. There were churches in Morocco before the advent of Islam in the 600s, but after that, Moroccan Arabs have been solidly Muslim. As Muslim militants gain power in Egypt, Coptic Christians have to flee for their lives.
There are some Berber groups in Morocco and some Coptic Christians in Egypt who are following Christ. They could possibly be ambassadors for Christ among Moroccan Arabs.
"And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life." 1 John 5:11-12
Pray that this people group realizes that it is only through the Son of God, Jesus Christ, that they can obtain eternal life.
Ask the Holy Spirit to give the few Moroccan Arab believers boldness to share the love of Christ with their friends and families. * Pray that God will call forth teams of intercessors who will faithfully stand in the gap for Moroccan Arabs in Egypt. * Ask the Lord to raise up strong local churches among the Moroccan Arabs in Egypt. * Pray for the JESUS Film to become widely available to Moroccan Arabs in Egypt. * Ask the Holy Spirit to soften the hearts of the Moroccan Arabs to Christian materials like the JESUS Film and the Bible.
