"Bania" is something of a generic term, and there are many Bania communities. The Bania trace their history back about 5000 years. About 50 communities have a traditional caste council, election to which is by a voice vote among 44 communities and by secret ballot among six. Widow remarriage is allowed among half of Bania communities, and divorce has gained social approval among 33 communities.
Fear that Christianity aims to turn individuals from their families, communities and traditions hinders Bania families and communities from considering the Gospel.
Pray for discovery Bible studies to spread rapidly in blessing Bania families and communities. The Bania are widely dispersed. Pray for workers.
"“God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.”" Acts 17:30-31
Pray for today’s people group to repent of their sins and to believe in the God of the Bible.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to give the Bania love for God's Word and a desire to spread its influence. Pray for Bania followers of Jesus to be effective in demonstrating how Jesus blesses and heals families and communities.
