Turk in Germany

The majority of Turks live in their home country, but significant numbers live elsewhere. They began to arrive in Germany as guest workers after WWII with the understanding that they would return to Turkey. Things did not work out as planned, and 80 years later, their grandchildren are still in Germany. These Turks enjoy living in one of the world’s most prosperous countries. Almost all are Sunni Muslims.

Ministry Obstacles

Turks in Germany often feel alienated and isolated. When this happens, people tend to clam up within their own culture, religion and ethnic contacts. A 2016 CNN article describes Turks in Germany as going through an identity crisis.

Outreach Ideas

Believers who enjoy culture can befriend Turks they meet at Turkish cultural events. Showing a genuine respect for culture can go a long way towards opening doors.

Pray for the followers of Christ

There are a few Turkish followers of Christ all over the world, and some Turkish believers are in full-time ministry. Pray for these believers to influence the Turks in Germany. Pray for ministries for women to find receptive hearts.

Pray for the entire people group

* Pray for a "Book of Acts" type of movement to Christ among the Turks in Germany. * Pray for Holy Spirit anointed believers from the Turkish community to change their society from within. * Pray for a movement in which the Holy Spirit leads and empowers Turkish disciples to make more disciples.
