pronounced: beh-GAHR-ah
The Messiria are one of the Baggara tribes of Sudan. Baggara are thought to be partly descended from Arab tribes who settled the region primarily from the fourteenth to the eighteenth century. They became known as the Baggara, literally "cattelers" or "cattle people". The Baggara are somewhat unusual in that the women work to provide the income needed to maintain the households, and a married woman owns the tent as well as all of its housekeeping contents.
Sudan provides a difficult environment for Christian workers, a place of turmoil. Pray for stability and peace.
Pray that a strong movement to Jesus will bring whole Messiria families and communities into a rich experience of God's blessings.
"All the people saw him walking and heard him praising God." Acts 3:9
Pray for the Lord to do signs and wonders among today’s people group. Pray they trust in God and give Him the glory.
Pray for the few followers of Christ among this Baggara tribe, that they will fellowship together and grow in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Pray they live a life of love, just as Christ loved them and gave himself up for them. Pray the material and physical needs of the Messiria people will be met, that they will be able to provide adequately for their families.
