There is historical evidence to show the rise of Koli chieftains from the fifteenth century onwards, who succeeded in establishing a considerable number of small kingdoms all over Gujarat by the eighteenth century. The traditional and primary occupations of the Koli are fishing, agriculture and masonry. The Koli profess Hinduism and believe in spirits and ghosts. Gomti Mata and Holi Mata are their village and community deities.
Spiritual darkness must be pierced by the light of the Gospel of Christ. There is always opposition.
Pray the Lord will open the hearts of the Koli people to desire God's blessings through a movement of family-based discovery Bible studies.
Pray for those who know and follow Jesus among the Koli community, that they will hunger and thirst for personal righteousness, and will be zealous to know and serve the Lord in holiness.
Pray the Koli community will be able to send their children to school, making schooling a priority. Pray they will be able to find employment, as well.
"Therefore I will praise you among the nations, O Lord; I will sing praises to your name." Psalm 18:49
